Don’t Allow Politicians Push you Into Anarchy – Catholic Bishop Urges Nigerians
The Catholic Bishop of Abuja John Cardinal Olorunfemi Onaiyekan has called on Nigerians to seek peace in the face of recent Biafra agitations.
The Catholic Bishop while speaking at the Mass to mark the Centenary of the late Eminence, Ignatius Cardinal Ekandem, in Abuja on Friday, called on Nigerians to champion peaceful co-habitation. He also encouraged Nigerians to work towards correcting the things that are wrong in the country instead of fighting each other. He appealed to each Nigerian to work towards peace and growth in the country.
Onaiyekan also appreciated the efforts being made by Acting President Yemi Osinbanjo in handling the recent agitations for disintegration and urges Nigerians to support the governments efforts towards peace and stability.
He said that the power to keep Nigeria as one rests in the hands of each Nigerian and urges the masses to shun Violence and Chaos..
According to the Guardian, the bishop emphasized that the ordinary Nigerian would be the ones to bear the brunt of chaos if it occurs.
“The politicians, when they start playing their games, forget the people on the ground. We on the ground ought to remember that when things get hot, there are certain people up there who always find a way out, fly their families abroad and leave the poor people to suffer. So we better take that seriously and not allow anybody to push us into a situation where there is general disorganized chaos,” he said.
